The WU Blog: An Introduction

Welcome to Worlds Unending and specifically to our blog! Whatever happy accident or highly-motivated quest brought you here, we’re glad it did. So pull up a chair (just watch out for the pet mimic) , and we’ll tell you a bit about what’s going on here.

Worlds Unending is, first and foremost, a labor of love. We wanted an app or toolset that utilized the latest and greatest technology to help make gaming feel more effortless. We want something to help intuitively organize the daunting hoard of NPCs, towns, magical items, spaceship cargos, taverns, lore, backstories, and other elements that are so essential to playing role-playing games. To say nothing of GM and player notes. And we thought that maybe other people would want that too.

So, we are a bunch of role players making something for ourselves and other role players. But it’s certainly not limited to that group. We think authors will find these same tools just as useful, and that creators of one-off adventures, neat settings, and fantastic digital art will find WU to be a platform where they can buy and sell their work.

“Okay, great, so what’s the blog all about?”

Glad you asked! The blog is meant to be a resource for people who play role-playing games and for those who enjoy (or suffer through) building out settings, cultures, and worlds. Here we will feature posts that review the latest and greatest (or oldie but goodie) additions to the role-playing universe. Those might be game systems or supplements, amazing dice makers and artists, the occasional board game, or generally whatever Kathleen has recently received from her many contributions to Kickstarter, Etsy, and Itch.io (and the others, but let’s be honest, Kathleen has a bit of a habit…).

(Kathleen is also writing in the third person for this post, but won’t normally do that, because it’s weird.)

In addition, we’ll also include a wide variety of posts on world-building, because it’s a passion of ours. We will share our thoughts, tips, hints, resources, and colossal failures as we go, to help inspire other world builders or at least give them a sense of what maybe doesn’t work so well.

Finally, we’ll provide the occasional update on how Worlds Unending The App is coming along, so that people who check back here regularly (or sign up for our newsletter!) will be the first to know when we’re looking for beta testers, launching a Kickstarter, and ultimately ready to share with the world(s).

Through this blog, you’ll hear from all of our team members (even if I have to drag some of them kicking and screaming to the keyboard). We promise fun and snark and a healthy dose of irreverence. Comments and feedback are always welcome!

BUT! We also want to hear from you! Have an idea for a post related to world-building or reviewing something? We’d love to feature you as a guest blogger! Just reach out to us at info@worldsunending.com and we can chat about it.

Other than that, sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!

Just someone remember to feed the mimic…
