Creator Spotlight: Rikaz Mar 24 Written By Kathleen R. Map SeriesMeet the Creator: Richard Give us a quick overview of what you make! I currently make battle/encounter maps on Inkarnate as a hobby but also for the Weaver’s Press Homebrew. What started off as a curiosity into the world of mapmaking has become a full-on hobby! How did you get started in gaming? I have played video games for as long as I can remember. I am a big fan of RPG’s, Strategy, Racing, and Sci-Fi. I have been aware of the TTRPG community for a while but never really delved into it until a couple years ago when I was invited to be part of a D&D campaign (still ongoing)! What inspired you to create maps? The inspiration for me to delve into map-making was my D&D campaign for sure! I did not realise there was such a community for cartography. I love the world-building and story-making potential from maps, I was however not the best at being artistic in the conventional sense so once I heard about software that makes maps (such as Inkarnate and Dungeondraft) I felt right at home! What is your next big goal for gaming-related work? I would love to give streaming a go being a variety gamer, but I also feel I could live-stream my map-making process whilst producing useful tutorials for everybody to watch. The things I learn is stuff I want everyone else to be able to utilide as well! What's one fun fact people should know about you? My favourite game right now (and has been for a while) is Rocket League. The combination of cars, flying, and football just makes me come back to it time and time again. I somehow managed to sneak myself into Diamond rank this season but I sit around the Gold/Platinum region! Follow Richard on a range of social media, as well as Weavers Press!
